Reitan Retail launches new convenience concepts in Finland

Reitan Convenience is further developing its operations in Finland with the launch of new concepts to meet changing customer needs and urban consumption patterns. The new store concept Ärrä will open its first pilot store in Helsinki in June.

During 2026, Reitan Convenience Finland will operate with three different concepts. The well-known R-kioski will continue as a nationwide everyday kiosk, while two new concepts will be launched to meet new needs and customer segments.

Ärrä is an urban and modern store concept with particular emphasis on food and drink for an on-the-go urban lifestyle. The first pilot store will open in Sanomatalo in Helsinki in June, before the concept is planned to be rolled out more widely in the autumn of 2026. The goal is to offer a relevant and effective service for people on the go in urban areas.

Later this year, a new café concept will also be introduced in Finland, further strengthening the focus on food and beverage in the convenience industry.

The development in Finland is part of Reitan Convenience's long-term strategy to develop new formats and solutions, based on local insight and international experience. Reitan Convenience is one of four business areas in Reitan Retail.

This is about being curious, testing new ideas and developing concepts that people actually want in their everyday lives. We will continue to build on what works, but also dare to try something new, says Mariette Kristenson, CEO of Reitan Convenience.

She points to Finland as an important market for further development of new convenience solutions.

If we are to be relevant over time, we must constantly adapt to the customers and how their lives change, says Kristenson.
